Working on my studio

Wow, I can't believe I've ignored my new little blog lately. I've been so busy trying to put my studio together and finish up a bunch of orders. I ordered a new piece of furniture to store all my fabrics in. Unfortunately, it's not going to hold everything. When you buy on-line you just don't really know what you are getting. The drawers are only 4" deep. And they described it as "deep drawers", Yeah Right! Anyway, I'll just have to make do for now.

Everything is such a mess right now. It's really hard to work, even get inspired when everything is upside down. But ...

I did manage to paint some really cute aprons for a customer the other day. She plans to give them to her hairdressers for Christmas. I've posted them on my Flickr site. Check them out at www.flickr.com/graciemaedesigns

I've sold a few items on Etsy.com as well. Check out my store at www.graciemaehandbags.etsy.com

The little tooth fairy pillows are doing very well. I've sold several of them locally.

Well, gotta run. I'm meeting my fabulous diva friend "Candie" for lunch and possibly a movie. I've seen the new Johnny Depp movie Public Enemies, but I can sit and watch him again anytime. Then there's Julie and Julia. Meryl Streep at her best! So as Julia would say "Bon Appetit"

A little more about Gracie Mae

As I said, Gracie Mae McDowell was my grandmother. She was about 15 years old in this picture. But I always knew her as Granny Mc, my little white haired grandmother. She couldn't have been 5 feet tall. Absolutely adorable. When I was about 23 years old, she and I spent a month in a camping trailer in Panama City, Florida. We were camped right on the bay. She would put her emerald green swimsuit on and wade out into the water to about knee deep. I would set up a big umbrella for her and she would perch herself down and begin to crochet. If we weren't on the beach, we were shopping. Oh my, she could shop my legs off! We had such a great time that summer, one of the best vacations ever.

She's been gone a long time now, but I still think of her often. When I started designing my handbags, I knew exactly what I was going to name them ... My Gracie Mae Handbags! I then began making matching cosmetic bags and sunglasses cases. So I changed the name to Gracie Mae Designs. I thought that would pretty much cover anything I came up with.

Enough info for now ... there's always tomorrow.

The First Day

This is my first blog ...ever! I thought I would give it a try. I've already tried Flickr, MySpace, Facebook, etc....blah, blah, blah. Now I'm here! Can't wait to see where this takes me. But for now I must get some sleep.
